ABOUT us
Aquiva is a multifaceted creative hub for humans of the ocean. Shapers, designers, artists, musicians and film makers now have an outlet to share and inspire. Founded in 2018 by shaper and music producer Finnian Whitla, the No. 1 objective was to bring like minded people together for events, club nights, film premiers and art exhibits.
— but that quickly escalated into a full two-day surf festival, spanning multiple venues across Hobart in Tasmanias south. Bringing together shapers, artists, musicians, photographers, jewellery makers, and boardrider clubs, it became something far bigger than we ever anticipated.
Since then we've been fortunate to work alongside some amazing brands and people, including Vissla, Save the Waves, Ain't That Swell, Wild Things Gallery, Eddie & The Low TidesThe Goons of Doom, The Bungalows, Pirate Life, Surf Ears, Stu Gibson, Nick Green, JJJames Art, Matt Hannon, Dane Chisolm and all the crew at Southarm Boardriders in Tasmania for their amazing support.
It all started with a collective of shapers including Matt Parker and Album Surfboards, Luke Daniels, Serpent Sleds, Max Stewart, Nick Stranger, Seymonster Shapes. The goal was simple: create an aesthetically pleasing platform to showcase their craft.
Now based in S/E QLD, Coolangatta, we have our sights set on an intimate event space in the area — a hub for music and film events, live shaping and art installs. A real-world home for humans of the ocean.
This website is really just the beginning.
