The Karma Kartel is the culmination of two boards from the past and a good hard look at the future. The outline and rocker comes from an asymmetric performance twin I called Modis. Over the last 4 years I have been experimenting with multiple different bottom contours and improving each outcome, 1 board at a time.
When it comes to creating specific bottom contours, the end goal was simply trying to generate speed through least resistance, attempting to channel the water flow to the fins before disengaging off the board via the bottom edge. My theory, was channeling the energy created from the bottom contours to the fins, where it would be exaggerated over the foil and rake, giving the board a boost of performance.
The fins for the Karma Kartel was the missing ingredient and while we all have our favorite set, I settled on the Scorpion Twin from Wild Things. The Scorpion has just the right amount of drive and hold being somewhere in-between an upright (performance) Twin and raked back keel fin. It's this combination that convinced me they should be sold together.
The Karma Kartel also includes a unique stepped down foil in the profile. I have coined this design the Speed Tail (because it reminded me of the McLaren Speedtail shape). Again, water flowing under the board towards the tail accelerates before exiting. The round tail, features a sharp vee off the tail as this acts as a 3rd fin for extra hold. You also have the option of a trailer with this model too.
Best performing in good quality waves in the head high and above but of course, given its beak style nose and forward volume aspects, the Karma Kartel can be ridden in most conditions. If you are looking for a groveler though, best to check out The Beach Rat model.
Available in a range of sizes from 5’6 up to 6’6. Depending on the type of waves you intend on riding, it’s best to go around the same height as you are tall. However, shorter for more advanced surfers.
Each Karma Kartel comes equipped with a set of Scorpion Twin fins from Wild Things Gallery.
Its a little bit spesh-ial this one. A highish performance twin fin that will come equipped with a new set of Wild Things Scorpion Twin fins. This board is super fast, can handle conditions from your local beachies to well over-head point breaks like Kirra and Lennox Head. The Vee Double provides a bunch of lift but also some hold as it acts like a small center fin.
I recommend this board be ridden 2 inches shorter than your daily, or go smaller for the more experienced surfers. The aggressive flyers just behind the fins pull the tail in and put a break in the outline, allowing the board to pivot easier through bottom and top turns. It can also provide some bite when navigating barrels.
We have designed this board around a thumb (round bump) tail but you can also order with a swallow tail below! All orders will come with a new set of fins thanks to Wild Things.
A high-performance shortboard with a retro twist. I’ve managed to hide a bunch of foam in this one thanks to a flatter deck, down rails and a more relaxed rocker. The Dawn Raid is an all-rounder, dusk till dawn, for any conditions your local throws up at you. This one came about after watching endless videos of guys like Creed McTaggart and Robbie Rickard.. Just big, solid surfing!
The Dawn Raid can wrangle just about anything from 2ft to 8ft thanks to its low/medium entry rocker, flat bottom & Vee double concave. It’s hiding a bunch of foam up under the chest, so riding this one as high as you are tall is key. Go a little shorter for the more experienced surfer.
Recommended fins for the Dawn Raid - Glass ons. Do it.
